
NOTE: Immediately after typing the title of this post I realized the irony. I quoted Cake and this blog is essentially a weight loss blog. Omen? Of course, not! (Cake does sound good)...(errr..the band..they sound good, that's what I'm trying to say.) (trying.)
OK, here we go. I want to go to London. Always have. Obviously I've never made it. So, as a dual incentive to myself I've devised a plan. According to GeoBytes.com (city distance tool), Roanoke, VA to London, UK is 3,862 mi (6214 km). So, I plan to track my workout progress, mostly on the treadmill, and "tick" off the miles until I've walked the equivalent distance to Londontown. Then, I will have 'earned' my way and will physically go there. My hope is that this will serve to keep me motivated, get me to London (albeit in a few years), and have me looking svelte and fabulous by the time I get there. This blog will serve not only as a diary of this time but also as an added incentive to stay focused.

I would really like to lose about 50lbs in order to feel healthy. Really, I'd be ecstatic with 40 but 50 is a nice round number and besides, according the BMI chart, in order to reach my ideal body weight I'd actually need to lose about 80lbs! Yikes!
I've been keeping track of my miles walked, approx. calories burned and time since I first decided to do try, once again, to lose weight. I've been working at it this go-round since May 13 and have walked a total of 18.158mi. Ugh. I've got a loooong way to go and I'm sure my dogs will bark (loudly and frequently) along the way.
