An open letter post script...

Sooo not funny, March.
P.S.
My dear March, I'm told you have the most robust sense of humor (not to mention an insatiable taste for irony). Now normally, such traits would have me saying  we are going to get along really, really well. Right now, however, they have me searching for the right 4-letter word to graffiti across your stupid calendar page. Jerk.

P.P.S.
That groundhog was so right about you!

An open letter to the new month.

Dear March,

Hello and welcome to 2010! We've all missed you so and we hope you will settle in quickly and comfortably.  How's Spring? Did you remember to bring her with you? The robins have already arrived. Crocus buds, only by the strength of Atlas, have managed to poke through the icy scars of February.  And me, dear March, I am dieing for some fresh air and a brisk walk.  There are many new greenways I hope to explore and I would like to wear less than four layers of clothing (three if I'm indoors) sometime soon.  While I must admit there is a certain amount of relief in the heat produced by one's thighs rubbing repeatedly, it does take a toll on the fabric.  I have lost more than one pair of jeans to thigh-fire this winter.  My pants, my patience and my budget have all worn dangerously thin. Please help as soon and as much as you can, March.  I don't even mind so much that your arrival signals me another year older. I haven't looked forward to a birthday so much since 9 o'clock was "staying up late" and cake was a food group.  I am on bended knee, O March! And for a woman of my age and BMI that's neither pleasant nor attractive.  Now, help me up. And call April for back-up.

Frankly, February...

Managed to keep up with the food journal all weekend. Still haven't started work-outs, but I'm moving in the right direction.  Tomorrow March arrives and I hope it brings with it some warmer weather. Longing for sunlight and a temperate breeze.  Not asking for a tropical paradise or anything but something less than flesh-eating cold would be nice.
